What it actually does
BrightLocal is a UK local SEO platform plus a separate human citation desk. Track watches Map Pack rankings, a geo-grid, citation gaps, and Google Business Profile. Manage adds Active Sync to GBP, Apple Maps, Bing, and Facebook, plus post scheduling. Grow adds review monitor, email/SMS/QR asks, widgets, and in-dashboard Google and Facebook replies. Citation Builder is not in the subscription. Specialists submit listings you pick. You keep the logins. That is the 2026 product. Still independent. No 2021-2026 sale.
It is not missed-call text-back, not an AI receptionist, not a website chatbot. AI Insights is an SEO summary, not a front desk. Active Sync is a handful of APIs, not Moz Local’s 90-directory hose. Yelp is Active Sync Plus, US and Canada. There is no Jobber, Housecall Pro, Dentrix, or Mindbody page. Review asks need a contact list you upload. NiceJob still owns the post-job text.
Who should buy it
Buy it
Buy it if you are an agency that needs white-label rank reports and a citation fulfillment desk, or a one-shop that wants a Map Pack grid and listings it actually owns. Citation Builder can be bought on a free account with no SaaS plan. Track is enough if the job is ranks and audits. If you need to answer Google reviews in the app, that is Grow.
Skip it
Do not buy Track because the homepage said $31. Live calculator August 25, 2026: one location, monthly, Track $41, Manage $54, Grow $65. Annual is $369 / $485 / $584, which is the $31 / $40 / $49 they market. G2 and Capterra still print $39 / $49 / $59. Stale. Citations are $3.20 a site, or $2 in a 2,000-credit pack. A 120-site US campaign is a second invoice. Managed SEO is $1,299 a month. HVAC owner praise on the site is that SKU, not Track.
The catch
The reason not to buy is the bill stacks and cancel does not unwind it. ToS: no refund on unused SaaS time. Help, August 2026: downgrade is immediate; they keep prepaid money. Trustpilot, Alicia, February 2026: about $1,349 in three months, then a fight to cancel. G2: citation project estimated at three months, still open at nine. You own the listings after cancel. Reports freeze. Auto-renew. English law.
